How to Setup Chromecast on Windows 10

Google’s Chromecast is a great device that lets you cast your mobile device’s screen on bigger screens, like TV. It is relatively easy to cast your mobile phone’s or tablet’s screen on TV through Chromecast and involved only a couple of steps. But what if you want to cast your PC’s screen on a TV? Although it may seem a bit complex, Chromecast setup for Windows 10 is a relatively simple process.
In this article, we are going to take a look at the steps required to setup Chromecast on Windows 10. After following the instructions, you will be able to cast Windows 10 on TV easily.
Windows 10 Chromecast Setup Requirements:
There isn’t any special requirement or preparation needed to set up Chromecast for casting a PC screen on the TV. All that you need for this setup should already be available around you. Let us check out the list of requirements and make sure you have them ready before you begin:
- Google Chromecast Device
- Windows 10 PC
- A Television
- Google Chrome installed on your PC
- An active Wi-Fi network
Once you have all these requirements ready, you can go ahead with setting up Chromecast for your PC. After you have successfully set up this rig, you will be able to project your PC screen on TV seamlessly.
Steps to Setup Chromecast on Windows 10
Although the steps required for the setup might seem a bit lengthy, they are straightforward to implement. You need to follow the steps below:
Step 1: Connect Chromecast to TV
Begin with connecting the Google Chromecast device to your PC if you are not sure how to insert the Chromecast into your television device’s HDMI port. Next, make sure to connect the Chromecast to its power adapter using the USB cable provided with the device. After making sure that the physical connections of Chromecast are set up correctly, it’s time to switch your TV input to Chromecast.
Step 2: Set Chromecast as Input on TV
Now, switch on your TV and the Chromecast power adapter. Next, use your TV’s remote controller to select the input as HDMI. Usually, Television has more than 1 HDMI ports. If you are unsure which HDMI port you inserted the Chromecast into, try switching the input between different HDMI inputs. The HDMI options usually are HDMI 1, HDMI 2, and so on.
Step 3: Open Google Chrome on Windows 10 PC
Power on your PC; if it isn’t, then open Google Chrome on it. If Chrome is not available on your PC, go ahead and download it from here. Run the downloaded file to install Chrome on your PC, then launch it.
After opening Google Chrome on your PC, go to the Chrome address bar, enter the following URL: chromecast.com/setup and press the Enter key.

Doing so will open up the Chromecast setup page, as shown in the above screenshot. Here, click on the Start button to begin the setup.

The above screen will open now. From the checklist mentioned here, make sure that you are ready with all the requirements. To make Chromecast work, you will need an active Wi-Fi network. Before proceeding with the steps, ensure that your PC is connected to the Wi-Fi network, and the internet connection is working.

The screen shown above will load. Although you already must have connected the Chromecast device to your TV, this page has reference images for you to make sure you did it correctly. Click on Next.

Next up, go to your TV screen. Once you have selected Chromecast as the input by selecting the appropriate HDMI port, you will be able to see a Chromecast welcome screen. This screen will have a unique number on it. Make a note of the number.

Now, you will be able to view the Chromecast setup screen on the Chrome browser. Here, select the Or, you may set up your Chromecast utilizing this computer option.
On the next screen, go ahead and agree to the Privacy Terms by clicking on Accept.

You will notice on the setup webpage that your PC will begin looking for Chromecast devices on the same Wi-Fi network you are connected to on your PC.

When the search is complete, and your PC has found the Chromecast, you will get a prompt to set up the Chromecast. Here, click on the SET ME UP option.

Now, go to the Taskbar, click on the Wi-Fi icon, and look for your Chromecast’s open Wi-Fi network.

Name your Chromecast: On the next step of setting up Chromecast on Windows 10, you will get the option to name your Chromecast device.
Confirm Wi-Fi Settings: Next screen would require you to select the Wi-Fi connection and enter the Wi-Fi password. After this, you will be ready to cast a PC screen on TV through Chromecast.
How to Cast Videos from Windows 10 on TV?
Once the setup is done, you will be ready to cast any media playing on the Chrome browser, but how?

Whenever you play any video on YouTube, Netflix, Prime, or other compatible websites, you will be able to see a cast icon on your browser right beside the address bar. Click on it to begin the cast. You will be able to watch the video on your TV now.
